Background:
Grechetto is a central Italian grape grown mainly in Umbria with a pleasant nuttiness and leafiness. It is usually blended with Trebbiano and occasionally other white grapes into Orvieto wine. It is also used as a blending grape in Torgiano and Cervaro white wines. A semi-sweet version called abboccato is also produced from botrytized grapes.
